Klubb- och banbeskrivning
The course takes advantage of the natural, undulating terrain and indeed it’s rare to play a shot from a perfectly flat lie. From the tee there are several tree-lined and dog leg holes, so in some cases you need to know when to opt for a long iron or fairway wood instead of a driver to position the ball in the fairway and to avoid running into too much trouble. For approaching the greens, players will use their full club set, as there is a perfect balance of long, medium and short par 5s, 4s and 3s. So to card a good score at Varese, you need to be a complete player and have a full range of shots! The 16th is definitely the most difficult hole, but the one where you can easily lose more than one shot is the 4th. Most of the major problems are on the right hand side of the fairways, so avoid slices! Some of the greens are undulating with multiple tiers. Fortunately, they are not too fast, making it easier to avoid the dreaded three-putt.
