The magnificent Santo da Serra Golf Club, which includes 27 holes, was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and has been the home of Madeira Islands Open, part of the PGA European Tour, since 1993. Three different championship course combinations of 18 holes all par 72.
All holes, and some of them are truly memorable - offer spectacular views of the mountains, valleys and the best of Madeira's dramatic coastline. Santo da Serra Golf offers a complete range of facilities to its players and guests, including a comfortable clubhouse with panoramic restaurant, lounge, bar and terrace with stunning sea views. Its training grounds are fully equipped with a magnificent practice area that has two putting-greens, a chipping green, bunker green and a driving range with three different tee positions, one of them covered. The course has been described by golf journalists as one of the most scenic on the European Tour. It provides a spectacular golfing experience with its challenging terrain, ample fairways, beautiful lakes, strategic bunkers and four different tee positions. Improvements are carried out on the course every year to maintain its appealing quality of being highly challenging without being too severe.
